Overview

The FastPLAN™ method is a highly interactive facilitative planning process where the project team members turn ambiguity into accuracy and replace frustration with action. As the project facilitator working together with your participant team, you’ll build a plan for accomplishing the objective – a plan the team can get behind, and the stakeholders and management can endorse, within real-time expectations.

In this practical hands-on workshop participants will perfect the method of facilitating the rapid development of a project plan using accelerated project planning and facilitation tools and techniques based upon the FacilitateIT!™ graphic cards and group interaction toolkits. Learn how to, at the start of the planning session, quickly focus the team on defining the project completion criteria and avoid the disconnect of assumptions and semantics that often create long detours and prevent the team members from converging upon the important outcomes of the project.

What is taught and the learning objectives?
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to…

• Effectively facilitate planning the scope of a project, following the FastPLAN™ method using the FacilitateIT!™ Graphic Cards.
• Facilitate the definition of project completion criteria to form the basis for project scope definition and a common understanding of the project.
• Weed out hidden project assumptions and constraints to clarify the basis of future decision-making.
• Facilitate the development of a sound work breakdown structure whilst simultaneously; in real-time mode transform the WBS into a network diagram in a seamless process.
• Perform a critical path analysis on a network diagram to build realism around the project plan and obtain consensus on the schedule.
• Translate the FastPLAN diagram into a MS Project schedule ready for review and baseline.
• Adapt the FastPLAN™ method for other planning processes such as strategic planning, action planning, task team planning etc.
