The IAF promotes, supports and advances the art and practice of the profession of facilitation through methods exchange, professional growth, practical research, collegial networking and support services.
Founded by 70 charter members in January 1994, the IAF has grown into a global network of 1,200 members representing more than 20 countries, who work in all sectors of society. The organisation relies on its members to carry out much of its work. Governance is coordinated by a volunteer board of members.
IAF conferences are a primary means for fulfilling the IAF mission and reflecting the core values; offering international peer-to-peer networking and professional development. IAF conference attendance around the globe continues to grow. There have been 11 global conferences, and with now conferences been held on every continent this year. This is the 1st IAF conference to held in Africa.
In collaboration with it’s members and facilitator networks around the world, the IAF is working to promote the profession of facilitation as a critical set of skills in our global society of the 21st century.
